Parkside neighborhood in Savannah, Georgia

Parkside Neighborhood at Daffin Park in Savannah Georgia

DaffinParkThe Parkside neighborhood, literally named because the community borders Daffin Park along Washington Avenue, one of the most beautiful and desirable streets in Savannah with majestic oak trees draped with Spanish moss. The Parkside area runs west to east from Waters Avenue to Bee Road and from Washington Avenue to around 52nd St from north to south.
You’ll find a variety of early to mid 20th century homes including Arts and Crafts style bungalows and 1950s brick. Home prices currently range from about the low to high 100s depending on the size, modern upgrades and of course the proximity to the park.

Savannah is fortunate to have some really great parks.  In the downtown Victorian District Forsyth Park is the place to be but if you live in Ardsley ParkBaldwin ParkGordonstonor the Parkside neighborhoods then you’ll probably be spending a lot more time in Daffin Park.

Parkside

Daffin Park is always full of activity but is so large that it rarely seems crowded at about 80 acres. There’s soccer fields, football, baseball, volleyball, a well equipped children’s playground, basketball courts, swimming, fishing, miles of sidewalks for running, a beautiful stocked pond with a lovely gazebo in the center and a fountain. The gazebo can be rented out for parties and most weekends you’ll see families and friends having a cookout or tailgating.
A really great place to walk dogs, pets are very welcome, on leash of course, however, there are plans to have a true, fenced in, off lease dog park completed in Daffin Park by the end of October, 2011! The center of the park features a grass promenade that runs the length of the park amid huge oaks with limbs stretching out and forming a shaded moss canopy. At the east in of the park is Grayson Stadium, home to our local baseball team, The Savannah Sand Gnats.
If you enjoy spending time outdoors in Savannah’s great weather, taking advantage of what Daffin Park has to offer then you’ll want to check out this great park side community.

Savannah New Homes

Posted in New Homes, Savannah, Savannah neighborhoods with tags , , , , , , , on July 20, 2010 by savannahgeorgiahomes

New_2 New_1

Would you like to live in a brand new home?  Be the first family to live there…..even pick out your carpet, tile and hardwood flooring, choose your cabinets, counters, decide whether you want brick, siding, stucco, stone and on and on?

If that’s the case buying a new home in Savannah may be for you.  Building from the ground up may take 4 to 6 months from start to finish but new home communities usually have homes in different floor plans at various stages of completion.  Even if you are looking to move into a new home in just a month or two, often you can still choose many of these custom features in plenty of time.

Savannah has a wide variety of new homes throughout Chatham county and in every price range.

Just to name a few……

  • Berwick Plantation
  • The Villages at Berwick
  • Chapel Park at Berwick
  • The Enclave
  • Legacy Square
  • Stonebridge
  • The Lakes at Cottonvale
  • Savannah Quarters
  • Sweetwater Station
  • Bradley Point South
  • Canebrake Village

Give me a call or send me an email and I would be happy to email you some new construction homes to to look through.

Remember, when you walk into a new homes community the on site agent represents the seller so make sure you have an agent with you on your first visit to the community. As an agent who is experienced in new home sales I can help you to negotiate the best price and upgrades for your money and look out for YOUR best interests…. not the seller’s.

Keep in mind, there is a lot to consider when purchasing a new home.  How long will they still be building in the community?  Is there a possibility that you may need to relocated before the community has finished construction?  If so, will I be able to compete with the builder’s prices if I have to offer mine for sale?  These are questions that a knowledgeable agent can discuss with you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

  • Is the community FHA approved?

  • Lending on condos can be more difficult than single family homes.  Who are the best lenders to help?
  • Any great deals on foreclosures?

Gordonston homes in Savannah Georgia

Posted in Gordonston, Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Savannah neighborhoods with tags , , , , , on January 17, 2009 by savannahgeorgiahomes

Gordonston_2 One of Savannah’s most charming older neighborhoods, Gordonston is located on the east side of Savannah.  The newest neighborhood in Savannah to be named to the National Register of Historic Places, Gordonston is definitely worth considering.  Nestled between Skidaway Rd to the south, Pennsylvania Avenue to the east and Gwinnett St. to the north, this subdivision formed in the early 20th century boasts a variety of architecture from Neo-Classical, Colonial Revival to Arts and Crafts style homes.

Gordonston Beautiful overhanging trees draped in spanish moss, manicured lawns, beautiful and unique homes and the Juliet Gordon Low Park make Gordonston one of Savannah Georgia’s  most prized jewels.  Named for the noted Gordon family of Savannah, their most famous family member being the founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low.  Quite similar to Ardsley Park in many ways, the smaller subdivision of Gordonston is just a short drive to downtown Savannah and the Islands.

The east side of Savannah, Ga has seen a lot of expansion in recent years with revitalized shopping centers and major retailers including, Starbucks, Staples, Home Depot and Target, attracting homebuyers and businesses to the area.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions about this beautiful and historic neighborhood or if you would like for me to send you the current listings of available homes in the Gordonston community.

Ardsley Park homes

Posted in Ardsley Park, Hunter Army Airfield, Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Savannah neighborhoods with tags , , , , on January 14, 2009 by savannahgeorgiahomes

Ardsley-home

Ardsley Park, one of Savannah’s most popular neighborhoods began around 1910 with the advent of the automobile becoming Savannah’s first suburb. Just a ten minute drive from the downtown Historic District, Ardsley Park – Chatham Crescent was added in 1985 to the Register of Historic Places. The design is similar to that of the Historic District which was planned by Savannah’s founder General James Edward Oglethorpe, laid out on a grid of landscaped parks and squares.

Most of the homes were built in the first half of the 20th century and are a mixture of large two story homes and smaller “bungalows”. Savannah’s first suburb, laid out in 1911, is a mixture of prestigious four and five bedroom mansions and quaint, craftsman style bunglalows situated on tree lined streets. The borders of Ardsley Park seem to be an ongoing debate. Because of the enormous popularity of the neighborhood it’s not uncommon for people to debate what’s “true Ardsley Park” and what’s “Ardsley Park adjacent”. I understand the original boundaries were Victory Drive to the north( originally called Estill Avenue) to 55th St. to the south and Bull St. to the west and Habersham St. to the east but today the eastern boundary is mostly considered to be all the way to Waters Ave.

Picture 5

Ardsley Park has become one of the city’s hottest neighborhoods and real estate prices typically range from about 250,000 to $350,000 for to up to a million and beyond for very large homes. Located about 10 minutes from both the southside business areas and the downtown Historic District helps make Ardsley Park a convenient neighborhood. Only a 20 minute drive to Wilmington and Whitemarsh Islands and a 30 minute trip to the beach. At the edge of Ardsley Park you’ll find one of Savannah’s largest and most popular parks, Daffin Park.

Ardsley Park is a true walking neighborhood with sidewalks, lush lawns with mature trees and scattered with beautiful parks. For many Savannah residents Ardsley Park is the only place they would call home! If you have an appreciation for older homes with lots of character then Ardsley Park is a neighborhood you’ll want to explore.

Savannah, Georgia was named one of America’s prettiest towns.
