Historic Savannah homeSavannah has been named One of America’s Prettiest Towns by Forbestaveler.com. Counting Savannah’s superb garden squares dripping with Spanish moss and its cobbled riverport among the features that makeit the loveliest Colonial town in the U.S.

No big news to Savannahians but we’re happy for the honor bestowed upon our beautiful and historic community. Savannah is full of charming communities  like the Historic and Victorian Districts, Ardsley Park (Savannah’s first suburb), historic Gordonston, Baldwin Park and Isle of Hope to name a few.

A great place to make your home.

Thanks Forbes!

Savannah’s Historic Isle of Hope Waterfront Community

Posted in Isle of Hope, Savannah, Savannah neighborhoods with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 23, 2008 by savannahgeorgiahomes

Early maps refer to Isle of Hope in French as L’Isle Desperance.  Legends abound of Pirates using the island to hide their booty, and generations of children have been digging for treasure there.  Legend also says that the island was used as a place of refuge for french Huegonots fleeing persecution.

Historic Isle of Hope has been the location of quite a few movie productions including the original Cape Fear and Forrest Gump.  It’s a beautiful neighborhood for strolls or dog walking along the waterfront. Many of the homes along the water have their own dock but you can dock your boat at the marina as well. You’ll find a variety of homes from quaint bungalows and cottages to grand mansions. Homes prices range from around 300,000 into the millions.

Because of the close proximity to the Truman Parkway you can be in Historic Savannah in about 20 minutes.  A great place to live or just go for a Sunday drive!
